The pastors of the Portico believe that
covenanted membership to the local church is not only biblical, but it
is extremely vital to a healthy and thriving relationship with the
people of God.
The road to membership includes a 20
week study through the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith (The
confession affirmed by the Elders and members of the Portico). We
gather weekly to examine the scriptures together and share in the
fellowship of God's people.
the portichism is a catechism
(portico + catechism = the portichism ). Catechisms are
doctrinal summaries compiled into a question & answer format.
Catechisms are a highly effective way for Christians to learn the
doctrine of the church and have been used throughout church history. the
portichism is a compilation of questions & answers borrowed
from several well known historical catechisms in the church, such as the
Westminster Shorter, C. H. Spurgeon's, and Benjamin Keach's
Catechisms . In addition to these questions & answers, the
elders of the portico have written an additional 22 questions to
correspond with several doctrines of the church that were not
previously addressed in the other historical catechisms.
Whether you are new to Christianity,
new to reformed theology, or just simply desire to study the rich
historical doctrines of the Christian faith, please feel welcome to
join the portichism study.
